About this tool

Shrinks images by percentage or target width and lowers quality to cut file size. A 4032 × 3024 iPhone photo becomes 2016 × 1512 at 50% or 1280 × 960 at 1280 px wide; height follows the aspect ratio.

Each image is redrawn on a canvas at the new size and saved with canvas.toBlob. By default the original format (JPG, PNG, WebP) is kept at 80% quality; switch to WebP or JPG for smaller files. Images are never enlarged.

Drop in several images at once, including iPhone HEIC photos, and download them all. Nothing is uploaded, and EXIF data such as location is removed.

FAQ

How much smaller will it get?

Halving width and height leaves a quarter of the pixels, which usually cuts size a lot; lowering quality to 70–80% helps further.

Why does PNG shrink less?

PNG is lossless with no quality setting. For photos, JPG or WebP is much smaller.

Are photos uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser.
