UUID Generator

Version

About this tool

v4 uses crypto.getRandomValues: 122 of its 128 bits are random (6 mark the version and variant), so collisions are practically impossible — common for database keys and request IDs.

v7, defined in RFC 9562, puts the current time in milliseconds in the first 48 bits and fills the rest randomly. IDs sort in creation order, which is friendlier to database indexes than v4. One made in October 2026 starts with 01a1…, and the prefix grows over time.

Generate 1–100 at once, in uppercase or as 32 characters without hyphens. IDs are created on this device when you press the button and are not recorded anywhere.

FAQ

v4 or v7?

v4 when order does not matter; v7 where sorting by creation time helps, such as database primary keys.

Can UUIDs collide?

With 122 random bits in v4, the chance is practically zero even after a billion IDs.

Is a GUID the same?

Yes. GUID is Microsoft's name for a UUID.
